Petite SV & Martinique: Boat building, Water re-filling, A resort for $1000 USD/night, and the Smallest Island in the World!

We needed more fresh water and dad wanted some docking experience so we slid the Vihalla up to the dock and filled her up for 0.50 EC / Gal. Well done captain! We didn't know it at the time but we would run out of fresh water as I washed the last dishes on the last day as we checked out back at Barefoot. Good thing we topped off our tanks!       Martinique doesn't cater at all to tourists instead relying on boat building and fishing for its' economy. We walked around a bit finding an extremely desolate part of the island and these guys building some boats. They invited my dad back into their work area which freaked mom out some. White guy with expensive camera ready to get mugged was all Mom could see. The guys were super nice like just about every one we met on our trip. They said they built about 25 boats a year but wouldn't tell me how much they sold them for. A lot of the island looked pretty poor but you could tell that they were doing OK as long as they kept building more of the small boats we would see zooming around the islands.
As we were walking back towards the market all the school kids had just gotten out and they were all over the place in their pink and blue clothes. Considering how badly a lot of the local guys dressed the kids all looked amazing prim and proper. We got an incredible sunset behind the fancy boat anchored next to us that night. We have seen some really beautiful boats in the bays during this trip. Must be nice to own one of those I would think.

This is the smallest legitimate island in the world! It is about 50 feet across and 30 feet tall. Just a spec of white sand in the middle of a reef. You can see why Sports Illustrated swimsuit edition and many others have used this spot for tropical photo shoots.

Countless photo shoots had been taken on this spec of an island so we figured we would do our own. Just to fit in you know. The snorkeling around the small island is pretty good too.

Next we go over to Chatman Bay, Union for some grilled lobster from Shark Attack!
